Area Artists Association of the Lubeznik Center for the Arts

What is the Area Artists Association (A3)?

Area Artists Association (A3) is a non-profit organization of professional artists affiliated with the Lubeznik Center for the Arts (LCA) in Michigan City, Indiana. Exhibiting artists who live/work within 60 miles of Michigan City, Indiana may be juried into the association through review by current A3 members.

We actively organize exhibitions of our members artwork. Our 2023 exhibitions were at the South Bend Museum of Art and at Rising Phoenix Gallery in Michigan City; in 2024 at The Art Barn in Valparaiso, Moon Tree Studios in Plymouth, IN, and Chesterton Art Center; in 2025 at the Marshall Gardner Center for the Arts, in Miller Beach.

The purpose of our organization is to support, recognize and encourage regional artists and provide opportunities for exhibitions of their art and for professional development. Through our regular exhibitions, we also provide communities throughout the northwest Indiana region access to the diversity of work produced by area artists. Among the benefits A3 members share are:

  • opportunities for one-person and group exhibitions
  • participation in lectures, demonstrations and discussions taking place at our bi-monthly meetings
  • involvement in other communal projects initiated by the group to further the aims of A3

Membership to A3 is $25.00 and paid in addition to membership to the Lubeznik Center for the Arts. Members pay dues annually in December to be eligible to participate in exhibitions scheduled the following year. Members, who attend meetings, volunteer to help mount exhibits and serve on committees are considered members in good standing. Fine artists who have exhibited their work and are interested in being part of A3, may complete the application form linked below. For more information, please feel free to contact us.

How to join…

Applications are juried for acceptance into A3. Applications for membership are due October 1; notification of acceptance will be sent by December 1. Member fees are paid in December for eligibility for exhibitions the following year.

If you are a fine artist interested in joining A3, application requires the following: completed membership form (name, address, phone, email, website, Instagram); an artist statement; a resume/cv that includes dates of your exhibition history and other experiences relevant to your career as an artist; 5 images of artwork created in the past 2 years. Still thinking? We invite you to sit in at an A3 Meeting to meet the artists and become acquainted with our activities and programs. Our bi-monthly meetings are at the Lubeznik Center for the Arts at 7-8:30 pm CST unless noted. In 2024, our meetings are scheduled as follows: February 20, April 16, June 18, October 15. We will also host an August Annual Picnic at Creek Ridge County Park and December Holiday Potluck Party.
